Questions from the Block
We’ve rounded up the most common questions our customers ask.
Your Butcher Has Answers
At Guthrie’s Butcher Shop, we believe that good meat starts with good knowledge. Whether you’re wondering where our beef comes from, how to store your steaks, or which cut is best for your Sunday roast, we’re here to help. Below, you’ll find answers to the questions we hear most often — straight from behind the butcher block.
Where does your meat come from?
We source our beef, pork, and poultry from small farms right here in Kentucky and nearby states. All cuts are USDA-graded, inspected, and hand-selected for quality. Our beef is upper choice and prime — never frozen.
Do you carry seafood?
Yes! We bring in fresh seafood throughout the week — including favorites like halibut, salmon, and shrimp — all sourced for quality and sustainability.
Do you offer custom cuts?
Absolutely. Our butchers are happy to prepare custom cuts to your exact preference. Whether you like it thick, thin, or somewhere in between, just let us know at the counter.
What’s the best way to store fresh meat?
Keep your meat refrigerated and tightly wrapped in butcher paper or vacuum-sealed. For longer storage, freeze cuts you don’t plan to cook within a few days — they’ll hold their quality best when sealed airtight.
Can I order ahead or place a special request?
Yes — call ahead or stop by the shop to discuss special orders. For holidays and larger gatherings, we recommend placing your order early.
Where are you located and when are you open?
